Glossary
- Candidate
-
An ontology or vocabulary term returned by deterministic retrieval for a semantic target.
- Constraint
-
A qualifier that narrows the entity or property represented by a measurement, such as a life stage, sex, or assessment phase.
- EDH
-
Enterprise Data Hub, the DFO destination supported by metasalmonpy’s HNAP-aware ISO 19139 metadata export.
- GCDFO
-
The DFO-specific salmon ontology namespace used for concepts whose scope is narrower than the shared Salmon Domain Ontology.
- HNAP
-
Harmonized North American Profile, the ISO metadata profile used by the supported DFO EDH export.
- I-ADOPT
-
A framework for decomposing an observed variable into five components: property, entity, constraint, statistical modifier, and the whole-variable term itself. metasalmonpy also records a unit. There is no dictionary method slot — sdp-0.3.0 removed it.
- LLM assessment
-
An opt-in model decision about a deterministic candidate shortlist. Assessments are provenance for curator review, not authority.
- Review marker
-
The
REVIEW:prefix added to inferred IRIs. Strict validation fails until a human removes or resolves every marker. - Salmon Data Package (SDP)
-
A portable directory containing data resources, standardized metadata CSVs, a Frictionless
datapackage.json, and optional export artifacts. - Semantic target
-
A specific metadata field that needs an ontology or vocabulary IRI, such as a measurement property, code value, table observation unit, or dataset keyword.
- SMN
-
The shared Salmon Domain Ontology namespace at
https://w3id.org/smn/. - Structured term gap
-
A machine-readable record that a semantic target lacks an acceptable term or received a final
request_new_termassessment.
